Output values high

Dear experts,

I am trying to score photon flux ratio (I/I0) coming and leaving the target with various thicknesses, from the slope of ln(I/I0) vs thickness to get attenuation coeff. However the fluka values from the calculation are higher than the xcom values.
I tried some combinations making EMFcut part=Beampart, photon ; Region right, left, rest=Vacuum, Air. But didn’t make much difference.

Any suggestion would be helpful.

Dear gulmen,

you need to score of the intensity of the photons, which are leaving the target still having their initial energy to calculate the attenuation coefficient.

Also, you need to score current not fluence (as @ceruttif pointed out in a different topic) and you shouldn’t use an isotropic source.

Cheers,

Dear David,

I score current (I1,LinE,Linteta) and use one usrbdx card for the photons leaving the target. I get the value for the leaving photon current from the Tot. resp in the sum.lis file however where do I get initial photon current?

Note: I used Ebins=1 just for the test run. And I don’t know how to download the input file from the flair, I just copy to .txt and uploded here, sorry!.

Best regards,

Dear gulmen,

in the previus version, you had a scoring for the incoming photons, which would give you the initial current.
However, in case of a pencil beam it would be 1.0 (part/pr) anyway.

Cheers,
David
