Abstract
The Timepix3 Radiation Monitor was deployed at the Large Hadron Collider in Interaction Region 4, aiming to measure the ionising dose and charged particle fluence generated by the operation of the Beam Gas Curtain instrument. Results were benchmarked against dedicated FLUKA simulations, yielding an agreement within the factor of 2. Beyond standard quantities relevant for Radiation to Electronics, the detector also demonstrated novel capabilities by exploiting the cluster morphology: namely, for the charged particles, the reconstruction incidence angles and the measurement of stopping power distributions. These results establish Timepix3 as a versatile tool for radiation field characterisation in accelerator mixed environments, complementing existing monitoring systems.
