Deuteron on Boron target

Dear experts,
is it possible to simulate the transport of a 500 keV negative deuteron on a Boron target?
Thank you.

Hello,

What do you mean by a negative deuteron?

Cesc

Good morning, I would like to simulate the transport of a beam of negative deuterion ions, extracted from a deuterium plasma chamber, towards a 10B target (D-10B reaction) in order to get a 6 MeV neutron field…I got errors…what do you think? Thank you!

Hello,

In your input you put D- as beam particle.

Please see the FLUKA Particle code list, where you’ll see that D- corresponds to a D^- charged meson, not a deuteron with 2 electrons. In the aforementioned list there is also for completeness the matching PDG particle numbering (-411), which as you can check in the PDG listing corresponds indeed to the D^- charged meson.

As of v4-5.0, FLUKA only transports fully stripped ions. Thus, if you want fine-grained details of the transport of your deuteron with 2 electrons bound to it, you’d have to treat this outside of FLUKA.

FLUKA should however be able to treat the (fully stripped) deuteron reaction itself.

With kind regards,

Cesc

Hello, thank you for the clarification…sorry for the mistake due to the hurry…then I can try to simulate an isotropic 6 MeV neutron source…what o ou think.
Giuseppe.

Hello…then I got these errors…what do you think?
Thank you. Giuseppe

then I can try to simulate an isotropic 6 MeV neutron source

Please post the input file so we can replicate your plot-error scenario (it’s unclear to me whether you start from your own isotropic 6 MeV source or whether you’re letting a deuteron beam interact).

We’ll then take a due look.

Thanks,

Cesc
