Discrete scoring results

Dear experts,
I simulated the dose rate of a shielding issue. But I found that there are some discrete scoring results after the shielding door, as shown in the right of the picture. What do these discrete data represent? Can we consider these discrete data to be non-convergent singular point data and therefore negligible? I’ve tried to increase the number of particles or decrease the variance, but it still can’t be eliminated.
Thank you.

Hello Duobao,

this looks like poor statistics right of the shielding wall and door. In your simulation, only a few histories make it through the obstacle and deposit energy in that region.
I recommend to divide the shielding wall in thin layers and to apply region biasing, with an increasing weight for each region the deeper you get into the wall.
More on this method can be found in a Fluka-course.

Best regards, Thomas

Dear Thomas,

It is clear. Thank you.
