FLUKA_umesh_fix generating only 1 region

Dear all,

I am using the geom_mesh_utils folder to convert .step files to mesh files to pass to Fluka. I have followed the steps in the readme and also here for the snowman example using FLUKA_umesh_fix.py. The CAD file is converted without errors into a mesh but in Fluka it only has 1 region, as opposed to the provided snowman mesh file which when loaded has 7. I attach both the example mesh and the one I generated from FLUKA_umesh_fix.py

I am not sure what I am doing wrong here. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Dear Simon,

Most likely it’s because MeshLib version that was installed is not one suggested in the README and the guide.

Which OS are you using? And could you please also send me the step file which you are trying to mesh?

Thank you for the reply.

Indeed, I was using the latest MeshLib version. I downgraded to the one mentioned in the README and now all regions appear. I was converting the snowman .step file from the examples, in Ubuntu 24.04.

Sorry for the trouble, I did not realise the newer MeshLib version wouldn’t work.

No worries, we have a dev version of the script which also works with the latest versions of MeshLib. It will be updated with the future FLUKA release.
