Description

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using usbsuw and usbrea to process the fort files generated by a run, and I’d like a better understanding of how the errors in the output file are calculated. Is there any documentation on this? Or, if possible, is anyone able to give me an explanation on here?

Kind regards,

Ruth

Dear Ruth,

the used formula is on slide 28 of the following lecture:

Thank you, that slide was useful!

I am getting errors of 100% on runs with >5 cycles, would that be an issue with the number of primaries? If so, how would I change that?

I should clarify that not every reading has a 100% error, but a good portion of them do. I wondered if there’s a way I could lower the uncertainty?

This means that certain of your scorings registered a result different from zero in only a single cycle.

You should either increase the number of primaries per cycle, or the number of cycles (so that more than one show a non-zero a result.)
Another possibility is biasing: if the detectors showing 100% error are clustered in one area, it means that this area does not see a lot of particles, which can be improved by biasing.
