Description

I would import an external beam distribution for my simulation.

Dear @BYEE ,

Could you please elaborate on your request and provide more details?

Dear Anna,

Thanks for your reply.
I want to simulate the interaction of a proton beam with a beam degrader (Wedged geometry tungsten). I have simulated the beam in a particle transport code just before the entrance of the degrader. Then, I want to import the distribution into Fluka, make the interaction with the degrader, and save the output beam distribution to continue the tracking.

I am wondering if there is a way to import an external beam distribution in FLUKA.

Thanks for your help,

Bruce

Dear @BYEE ,

From what you’ve written, it seems that what you need to do can be done using a source routine. You can find information about source routines, how to implement them ans use them in the slides of the last beginners course. Here is the link: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1498636/contributions/6486113/attachments/3067745/5427849/15_Source_routine_2025_JRC.pdf

As well, you have a look at the mgdraw routine from the last advanced course here: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1562786/contributions/6701469/attachments/3177519/5651284/10_MGDRAW_routine_2025_Advanced_ALBA.pdf

Let me remind you that there are several threads in the forum that address similar issues. You may find the solution you need in one of them.

Kind regards
