Irradiation profile for beam on and off situation

Dear experts,

I am trying to define an irradiation profile for beam on (8 hrs/day) and beam off (rest of the day) situation for 2 consecutive days. I am attaching the image. Is this the correct way to do it? Will the 2nd IRRPROFI automatically consider the time (by adding) from the previous last entry in IRRPROFI card?

Also, is there any way to visualize this time dependent profile in FLUKA for graphical representation?

Regards,

Riya

Dear Riya,

yes, this is a possible way to specify. It is not necessary to fill all three field on a IRRPROFI card. (See Example 2 at 7.22.37. IRRPROFIle — FLUKA Manual)

There is no built-in tool in FLUKA or Flair to visualize the irradiation profile.

David

Thank you @horvathd for clarifying it.

Dear @horvathd,

If I use IRRPROFI card, what is the unit of Dose and energy scoring in USRBIN output if Type: Region is selected? Normally, for type: region, the Dose unit is GeV-cc/g per primary, and the energy unit is GeV/primary. If IRRPROFI card is used, has the primary (p/s) been already included in the output or do I have to multiply it?

For e.g., for the RESNUCLEI output, we do not have to multiply the activity (Bq) by the p/s vaue, it is already taken into consideration.

Riya

Dear Riya,

yes, for activation studies (including the Region type USRBIN scoring), the intensities (primary/sec) are already taken into account. So the results will be normalized to [1/sec] instead of [1/primary]. But, of course, only if a DCYSCORE card is associated with the scoring.

Cheers,
David
