I am currently trying to model a simple case of a W irradiator and a barium coin as the target with an electron beam of 20 MeV. However, when I run the simulation, it produces no results. The .err file says “no stars created”. I am unsure of the issue, any ideas? I will attach the .inp file in here.
You miss the PHOTONUC card, which - like Father Christmas - shall timely carry the expected stars.
Note also the your electron beam energy is presently 20 GeV.
How do I use the PHOTONUC card? My advisor mentioned that the PHOTONUC are for activation bias and to get better statistic but not absolutely necessary in the simulation. I ran initially the exampe.inp file from fluka and ran just fine, but after editing it to add a Ba target with a W irradiator is when it started to give me issues.
I added the PHOTONUC card with mat of W to Ba, woth the GDR on and stars were created but the data subsection in files is empty, any ideas? Thank you for your time and Merry Christmas!

You need photonuc card if you want to produce neutrons, and of course it should be turned on if you want to see activation by neutrons, but it is required even if you are only interested in the prompt neutrons. Execute the testlambias in the run tab, and you will see neutrons. exercise_slides_02.flair (3.0 KB)
