Treatment planning for radiation therapy

Hello experts,
I’m interested in doing radiation therapy treatment planning for both photon and charged particles such as proton, my question is that could anyone start creating treatment plan from scratch after importing ct image using flair.
Thank you

Dear Almalki,

as far as I know, Flair doesn’t have the tools to create a treatment plan.

While it is capable to read some RTPLAN dicom files (created by other software), still there are limitations. For example, the collimator settings for a photon plan are not modelled in the simulation.

I hope this answers your question.

Cheers,
David

Thank you David for responding on my query.
I’m asking this as a beginner wants to go further beyond water tank simulation and wondering (for simplicity sake not for benchmarking RTPlans ) whether it’s possible to just import CT images and then run simulation for one beam direction using the default input setup (BEAM, BEAMPOS, AND USRBIN) or it’s more complicated.

sincerely,
A. Almalki

Dear Almalki,

yes, the standard FLUKA sources and scorings are usable with a voxel created from CT dicom files.

For more details on how to manipulate the dicom files in Flair, please have a look at this lecture:
