Use of New Source routine

Description

Dear experts

Here in this case i am using source term for divergent beam where using text file contains particle code,coordinates,direction cosines and particle weight in .txt file.A nearly parallel beam of proton is seen when scored in x-z and y-z direction.

1)However when this parallel beam is used to estimate source term (dose equivalent) in different direction as in input file it is having order of difference for nearly every angle scored when compared to pencil beam (i.e without source routine) of same energy. Couldn’t find reason for it despite varying dimension of thick target.

  1. Also dose equivalent scored at different direction from beam direction should be lesser than longitudinal direction but that is not the case.

Kindly suggest where mistake is being made.

Dear Satish,

Though I didn’t run your simulation, I noticed that you have 0.025 GeV set as a beam energy on the beam card, but in the phase-space file, you have protons around 0.25 GeV. Maybe this oversight is the cause of the difference you are observing?

Please note that the beam energy on the beam card should be higher than the energies you are sampling because this value is still used for setting up the dp/dx tabulations.
