Description

Please describe the issue. In case of reporting a bug, please provide step-by-step instructions for reproducing the error.
Dear Professor,

I intend to define a wall material of barite concrete (barium sulfate concrete), which has a density of 3.15 g/cm³ and is mainly composed of barium sulfate and concrete mixed together. However, this material is not available in the FLUKA database, where I only found the two individual materials of concrete and barium sulfate. I have added the cards in FLAIR in the manner shown in the figure attached. I would like to inquire whether this approach can help me correctly define the barite concrete wall material.

I look forward to your reply.

Dear @xingxing ,

I don’t see any issues with the way you implemented it, it seems fully fine to me. However, do note that Barium sulfate is available in the Flair database: please have a look at he FLUKA beginners course lecture on defining materials where you can find also more examples. The only aspect which only the user can control is the relative abundances of the materials using the COMPOUND cards where you explicitly defined the mass fractions of the materials which can be a source of error. It is up to you to make sure that these fractions are representing the real material in the most accurate way. If you encounter any issues or unexpected results please don’t hesitate to reach out again.

Best regards,

Andreas
